U-Turn Digital Camera

Considering that everyone has a digital camera these days, it is simply a matter of time before little kids start to want one. I know my children, who are ages six and under, want to play with our digital camera, but would you give a kid that young a digital camera? I don’t think so.

Fortunately, Digital Blue has one way of satisfying the curiosity of a little child with the U-Turn Digital Camera made for the little hands. The U-Turn has a 2.4 inch LCD screen that swivels so that the kids can take pictures of themselves. Hopefully, it is durable enough for the little ones’ rough lifestyle.

There is enough built-in memory on the U-Turn for about eighty digital photos, but it doesn’t look like they can be downloaded to a PC or laptop. Digital Blue’s press release on this product does not say whether it comes with a USB to mini-USB cord and appropriate ports for linking up.

Another feature is the “morphing” button feature that allows the user to morph an image with fun effects like the sketchy head, swirls, and squatty view.

The Digital Blue U-Turn digital camera is expected to be out in the Spring, for a price of about $49.99.

Apple’s Mac Pro

Apple just revved up its Mac Pro line, and at the top of the feature list is the latest quad-core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processors. Apple says the new Mac Pro with two quad-core Intel 2.93GHz processors is twice as fast as its dual quad-core 3.2GHz predecessor in memory throughput, and 1.5x faster in integer calculation. Despite those faster parts inside, Apple stuck with that same unstackable, yet attractive aluminum case.

But it’s not a bad deal in the Apple scheme of things, considering these new Macs cost less than the old ones, starting at $2,499 for the single processor unit and $3,299 for the dual proc. The fact that Apple stopped short at the 2.93GHz Nehalem chip, and doesn’t offer the fastest Xeon W5580 3.2GHz Nehalem, has us scratching our heads. Could it be that the price is already pushing $6,699 when you load on 12GB of RAM and the 2.93GHz chips?

BMW Intelligent Learning Navigation System

BMW is always at the forefront of vehicle technology and their latest contribution would be Intelligent Learning Navigation System (ILENA), where the system will learn your (bad) driving habits as well as daily routes in order to assist you better when it comes to navigation and fuel economy. It looks as though ILENA functions via Bluetooth connectivity or a docked handset, but drivers have the choice of an onscreen user select mode as well. ILENA will be able to adjust your seating preferences and rear view mirror once it recognizes you, displaying the best way and method of driving to get to your destination even before you manage to back out from your garage. Apparently ILENA is 80% accurate despite being in its development stages - we shudder to think that when it is fully operational, it will run for President in 2012.

Memphis Man Accused of Raping 15 Year-Old Girl

MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis police say a man is accused of raping a 15 year-old girl in the middle of the night.

It happened around midnight, February 21, 2009. According to a police document, the 15 year-old told investigators that her mother had just left for work when a family friend, who lives across the street, knocked on the door. The girl says she let the man in and then went back to her bedroom. The teen told investigators 21 year-old Cedric York followed her in the room, pulled off her pajama pants, pinned her down and raped her.

The girl’s mother told police she came home early, after she learned she didn’t have to work that night, and found York in her daughter’s bedroom, pulling up his pants. The woman says York started to apologize, saying that he was drunk and didn’t know what he was doing.

Investigators say the 15 year-old girl was taken to the Rape Crisis Center where she was examined. Police say the girl’s injuries were consistent with rape.

Cedric York has been charged with rape.
