A convicted child abuser was sentenced today to life in prison for the rape and murder last year of a blind Jacksonville woman in her apartment.
Jermaine David Wilson, 24, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and sexual battery and faced 30 years to life. He told police he strangled Dominique Harden in her Westmont Street apartment after she refused sex. He was the boyfriend of her best friend, said Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda.
Harden, 21, went blind at 18 and moved from her home in St. Augustine to Jacksonville to be closer to the Division of Blind Services, de la Rionda said.
