Arlington father could face capital murder charge in infant's death

ARLINGTON -- A 3-month-old baby, who officials said was abused by her father, died Saturday at a Fort Worth hospital.

Trinity Victoria died at 3:20 p.m. from blunt force trauma of the head, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner. They haven’t ruled on her manner of death.

Police arrested her father, Michael Victoria Jr., 24, Jan. 29 on suspicion of serious bodily injury to a child after authorities were contacted by the medical staff at Cook Children's Medical Center, said Lt. Blake Miller, police spokesman.

Victoria Jr. was released on $35,000 bond Feb. 2. Arlington detectives and the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office are reviewing the case to determine if the charge will be upgraded to capital murder, Arlington police spokeswoman Tiara M. Ellis said Monday.

According to a police report, an emergency crew responding to a 911 call on Jan. 28 found Trinity not breathing.

Investigators subsequently obtained enough information to arrest Victoria, Miller said. Detectives, medical personnel and Child Protective Services workers made the determination that the child's injuries were consistent with physical abuse, Miller said.

According to jail records, Victoria was arrested at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Clover Hill Road, which is also the address the medical examiner listed as Trinity’s home location.

He is no longer in jail, according to electronic court records.
