MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis police say a man has been charged in the murder of an 85 year-old woman in Midtown Memphis.Tommie Phillips, 21, has been charged with First Degree Murder in an aggravated robbery attempt.
The incident happened in the 1200 block of Faxon Avenue near Montgomery Street around 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2008.
According to investigators, a mother and her son were stabbed at the home and were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say 85 year-old Fannie Granderson, the man's grandmother, was strangled and died at the scene.
