MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis police say a woman was shot while sitting in her car at an East Memphis shopping center.It happened at the Poplar Plaza Shopping Center at Poplar Avenue and Highland around 6:54 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2008.
Detectives believe 36 year-old April Gibbs was sitting in a black Chevy Impala when she was shot once. Gibbs was taken to the Med in critical condition, but later died.
Investigators have questioned at least three witnesses in this case, including a man who police say knew Gibbs.
Police believe the shooting was the result of a drug deal gone bad.
