A flickering candle, some flowers and teddy bears sat outside 20-year-old Shalane Graham's apartment on Saturday night.
She is the mother of a two-year-old and was carrying her second child when a bullet took her life.
Officials say Graham died in a pool of blood near her kitchen following a party at her Hill District apartment.
Police say Graham's cousin, Deaundra Williams, 21, is facing a homicide charge in the incident.
Williams was found inside the apartment wearing blood stained clothing.
"The suspect had no injuries and the blood on his clothing was her blood," said Lt. Dan Herrmann, of the Pittsburgh police. "They [Police] began to force their way into the apartment. At that point, they heard a male on the other side say that he would open the door."
Police say even though Graham was pregnant, Williams will likely face just one count of homicide.
"The Pennsylvania law states that if the child could sustain life after birth, it would be considered a double homicide," added Lt. Herrmann.
According to authorities, there were six people in the apartment when the shooting occurred at about 3 a.m. and four of them were asleep.
A woman was awakened by the shooting.
She's the one who called police, officials say.
As for a motive, so far, police say they have no idea why Graham is dead.
