Shawn Henderson, 21, approached an employee at the door while wearing a mask to conceal his face, and put a gun to the employees back, forcing him inside the closed store.
He then ordered other employees to turn over the money in the store to him. He took nearly $5,000 and was demanding more. Sensing that Henderson was growing more dangerous, employees banded together and overtook him, removing the gun from his hand and holding him until officers arrived.
One employee sustained a laceration to his head when Henderson struck him with a handgun.
After police arrived, Henderson was transported to Southern Regional Medical Center where he was treated for injuries sustained during the struggle with employees.
Henderson was charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated assault, carrying a pistol without a license, battery, and unlawfully wearing a mask or hood in public.
